Electrical or electronical components must be sealed or filled with thermosetting plastics, silicone or epoxy resin, in order to be protected from humidity, dust or corrosive agents.
Gasketing and Potting are micro-dosing processes which guarantee a complete protection of the device. For these kind of sealings, Cannon has developed specific dosing units and mixing heads which allows a very accurate pouring and a precise small output.
Potting is the process of pouring liquid resin over electrical and electronic components, to protect the product against thermal shock, vibration, humidity and corrosion and to assure electrical insulation.
Cannon provides high precision flexible potting technology for very small outputs covering a wide range of formulations’ ratio with different chemicals as epoxy, polyurethane, silicone and polyester resins.
Cannon supplies complete personalized solutions: dosing machines, mixing head, automatic mixing head moving system, manufactured product loading and unloading.
The suggested dosing machine is C2P.
Gasketing is realized with polyurethane or silicone and applied to a wide range of industrial applications in order to protect from dust, moisture and water, and for damping-out vibrations and noises.
Generally, a gasket is premade: injected, extruded or die-cut, and then simply glued to the final piece.
With Foam-In-Place (FIP) gaskets, Cannon has developed a complete production system for foamed gaskets based on an in-situ pouring process. With the two raw material dosed and blended, and then poured directly onto the end product, significant cost saving can be achieved.
Moreover, there is no need to keep all gaskets (of different shapes and dimensions) in stock: Foam-In-Place allows the production of thousands of different pieces, each with its own shape or geometry, with improved physical and mechanical properties.
Cannon, with its experience with polyurethane and silicon mixing systems, can supply integrated turn-key plants for the production of FIP gaskets. The dedicated machinery for gasketing is the B1 dosing unit.
